Opening Reception: Small Works

Small Works Opens at the Lewisville Grand Theater

The Visual Art League of Lewisville is pleased to present Small Works, our latest member exhibition celebrating creativity that can flourish on a smaller scale. This exhibition showcases original works that prove artistic impact is not measured by size, but by imagination, craftsmanship, and vision.

Join us for the Opening Reception and experience an evening of art, conversation, and community. Meet many of the participating artists, explore a wide variety of styles and mediums, and celebrate the remarkable talent of Visual Art League of Lewisville members.

Whether you are an artist, collector, or simply enjoy discovering original artwork, Small Works offers an opportunity to experience pieces that invite close inspection and reveal the thoughtful details that make small-format artwork so engaging.

Meet the Judge

The Visual Art League of Lewisville is honored to welcome Jennifer Monet Cowley as judge for this exhibition.

Jennifer Monet Cowley is a Dallas-based multidisciplinary artist, designer, and curator whose career spans more than three decades. A graduate of the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts in Art and Performance, she works across numerous media, including colored pencil, pastel, gouache, acrylic, watercolor, collage, and wearable art.

Jennifer served as Curator of the African-American Museum in Dallas, where she organized numerous exhibitions before continuing her work as an independent curator. Alongside her artistic practice, she continues to exhibit her work throughout Texas and beyond.

Jennifer’s artwork is known for its vibrant color, symbolism, and craftsmanship. Her work often focuses on women—particularly Black women—and uses color and composition to communicate meaning through thoughtful, symbolic imagery.

We are grateful to Jennifer for lending her expertise to Small Works and look forward to recognizing this exhibition’s award recipients.

We invite everyone to attend the opening reception, support local artists, and discover the remarkable creativity that can be found in works of every size. The event is free and open to the public.
