The Visual Art League of Lewisville is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization. We are not only fortunate to have a partnership with the City of Lewisville but we have also made strong connections with our dedicated members and supporters over the years.
Jerry and her husband Tip McKay are two such individuals. For this year’s All Natural exhibition, they donated two awards in memory of their mothers.
Thank you both for your generosity and for giving us the opportunity to celebrate the memory of these two special women!

Geraldine McKay Expressions Award: $100.00
Geraldine McKay was a local artist living in Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico. She experimented with various mediums but mostly worked in acrylics. Her artwork often reflected natural landscapes near the places where she had lived. Geraldine was enthusiastic about the conservation of nature and her found nature objects blessed her home as art décor.
Geraldine had four children, three currently living in Texas. She had a gentle spirit that continues to live through her offspring.
Rachel LeCompte Humanity Award: $100.00
Rachel was not an artist, but had a strong appreciation for art, especially the impressionists and photography (she worked in a photo processing plant in the 50’s and 60’s). She often visited local art museums and pop-up art events. Rachel’s passion was for people, especially those who felt down-trodden, unappreciated, marginalized. She was always ready to help the stranger in need and actively supported civil rights. In the 60’s she sat on the Oklahoma Capital steps in protest of discrimination against women and the Black community.
