Sue has been working with gourds for 19 years. She became interested in gourds when a friend gave her a painted gourd. She bought a raw gourd at Canton, went home and cut it open, planted some seeds, and her journey began. Today she buys her gourds from large gourd farms in Arizona and California. She does relief power carving, wood burning, painting and decorating on gourds.
Working with gourds is her passion and she has won various awards with her gourd art. She won Best in Division at the Texas Gourd Festival, President's Choice in the South Carolina Gourd Show, several first place awards at the Texas Gourd Festival, and was winner of the Gourd Challenge of the American Gourd Society. Her work was published in the American Gourd Society Magazine.
Sue is also a member of Visual Arts of Prosper, Visual Arts of Lewisville, Texas Gourd Society, American Gourd Society, Cowtown Gourd Patch, and the Dallas Gourd Patch. She previously served as President of the Texas Gourd Society currently serves as President of the Dallas Gourd Patch
